Our mission
Research conducted openly, ethically, and in service of the public good.
We believe the defining technologies of our century — quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and robotics — should be developed transparently and responsibly, not behind closed doors. As a nonprofit, our incentives point toward sharing what we learn.
In partnership with Concordia University Wisconsin and its AI & Quantum Innovation Lab, and as a member of the Wisconsin Quantum Alliance, we are helping build a durable research ecosystem in the Midwest — one that gives students genuine experience at the frontier.
Research areas
Four connected frontiers
Our programs span four deeply interrelated domains — advances in one frontier routinely fuel breakthroughs in the others.
Featured work
Projects & initiatives
Research translated into tools, datasets, and opportunities the whole community can build on.
What guides us
Principles of the institute
Open by default
We publish our tools, datasets, and results — including the negative ones — so the whole community can build on them.
Ethics first
We confront the hard questions these technologies raise, designing for transparency, safety, and human benefit.
Students at the center
Real research experience changes lives. We create hands-on opportunities that prepare people to lead.
Rooted in Wisconsin
We're proud to help build a regional ecosystem for quantum, AI, and robotics right here in the Midwest.
Partners
Built on collaboration
We work alongside universities, research labs, and a statewide alliance to turn research into real-world impact — and opportunity for students.
Meet our partnersConcordia University Wisconsin
Home of the applied AI programs and a shared commitment to educating servant leaders in science and technology. Our collaboration spans internships, joint research, and student mentorship.
AI & Quantum Innovation Lab
Co-founded by Dr. Michael Litman and housed in Concordia's Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, the lab explores practical, ethical applications of next-generation computing — a natural home for our joint projects.
Wisconsin Quantum Alliance
A statewide initiative to connect investors and industry, grow a quantum startup ecosystem, and develop the quantum workforce. As a member, we help translate research into regional opportunity.
